“Project Access reminded me how important and needed design is in the world.”

- Catera Etheridge, University of Illinois at Chicago Studen

NEED

In 2017, the director of Englewood’s Veterans Garden wanted to make the garden more accessible, for Babette Peyton, a Gold Medalist Paralympic archer. At the time, the only planter beds in the garden were raised 10 inches off the ground.

GOALS

  • Create ADA accessible planter beds
  • Create a multi-purpose space for people of all abilities
  • Partner with students from the University of Illinois at Chicago to use their skills to make a positive impact
