Reimagine Your Public Library is an interactive exhibition that encourages a collaborative design process to reflect on the assets, needs, culture, and identity of communities and neighborhoods that can inform the design of a public library. The exhibition was held at the Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago’s first public library and was commissioned by the CAB team to activate their studio space during the 150th anniversary of the Chicago Public Library network. The exhibition was designed to have three components that would promote design thinking: modular furniture, an interactive survey wall and a collaborative collage challenge.

• Modular furniture to facilitate various programming by having exchangeable table and seating surfaces. Lightweight benches can be stored and moved around for different seating arrangements.
• Interactive survey wall with questions for people to answer with post it notes. Questions revolve around community assets, needs, culture and identity to get people thinking about their neighborhood and how architecture can support or improve their experience.
• A design challenge where we encourage people to collage different programs, textures, colors, senses and architectural elements that are printed on puzzle pieces to create their own library space.
